Washington, D.C. Selected Highlights

Since 2002, the Avon Foundation has provided over $20.1 million in support in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding region including:

• Co-founding of the Capital Breast Care Center to reach underserved women in the poorest neighborhoods of Washington, D.C.
• Support of 9 clinical trials in the region to prevent, treat, or stop the recurrence of breast cancer
• Support of the flagship Avon Center at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins
• Support of the development of a breast cancer vaccine, now in Phase II clinical trials, to treat advanced breast cancer and prevent disease recurrence
• Direct financial support to more than 1,050 low-income women undergoing breast cancer care
